Paxton, the Trump-endorsed Texas attorney general, will face Austin state Rep. James Talarico, the Democratic nominee for Senate, in November's general election.

The November matchup comes after a closely watched GOP runoff that tested candidates’ ties to President Donald Trump and the MAGA movement.

The Austin lawmaker now faces an uphill battle against Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick, the state’s second-highest executive, in November.

Gov. Greg Abbott, Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick and House Speaker Dustin Burrows all supported French’s opponent.

The Air Force veteran defeated state Rep. John Lujan and will face Democrat Johnny Garcia, a self-described “Blue Dog” moderate, in a November matchup that could determine whether Republicans successfully reshaped TX-35.

Johnny Garcia has won the Democratic primary runoff for Texas’ 35th Congressional District, defeating Maureen Galindo in a race that became one of the most closely watched and volatile Democratic contests in Texas.

Reyna defeated former Bexar County Precinct 2 Constable Michelle Barrientes Vela in the Democratic runoff for the open Texas House District 125 seat as longtime state Rep. Ray Lopez retires.

The former appellate justice edged longtime prosecutor Jane Davis in a close Democratic runoff and advances in the race to replace outgoing District Attorney Joe Gonzales.
